Immigration Formalities

 

All Passengers and Crew arriving into French Polynesia are required to have valid passports showing tourist visas if necessary. You must ensure that all visas have been given by the closest French Embassy or Consulate before gaining entry into French Polynesia.

Furthermore, valid outbound air tickets or a bank deposit to the value of a one-way air ticket towards the country of origin are mandatory for any non EC Citizen.

Please note that non EC Citizens planning to stay in French Polynesia longer than 3 months require a Long Stay Visa which must be obtained at least 3 months prior to arrival. This visa must be requested from the French Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin. Documents must be retrieved by the visa holder in person.

 

EC Citizens planning to stay in French Polynesia longer than 3 months can apply for a Long Stay Visa in Papeete.

Visitor who plan to stay in French Polynesia up to 90 days, should request a 90-day visa from the French Consulate in their home country prior to their arrival.
